Please excuse the roughness of this...I am still somewhat of a Newbie at this.... _RUN RULES_ Written and conceived by Evan 3, Jeana 2, and Jon 5 with the support and encouragement of George Clayton Johnson. (I believe they met with him at a San Diego Comic-Con during the summer of 1977...I think...) _Greetings_: The following rules were formulated for the enjoyment of everyone. With these rules, people will not have to spend a lot of time arguing over the rules. Also, people from all over can stage a RUN and know what the rules are. These rules were designed using both the book and the movie (Logan's Run) as their basis. We have also tried to add some realism (or what it will be then) into the rules. We are prepared to defend each and every one of the following rules. If you have any questions about the following rules, please see Evan 3 or Jesse 6. We realize that some of the wording in the rules is quite bad, but see us please (we are very open to suggestions, help and constructive criticism.), we will try to get the wording cleared up. This is the first time these rules have been seen in public, so they are still in their infancy. Please be kind to them and they will be kind to you. If you want a copy of these rules, see Evan 3, Jeana 2 or Jesse 6. _BASIC RUN RULES_ 1. All participants should be in "Logan's Run" costumes either SANDMAN, CITIZEN (RUNNER), or CUB. 2. Boundaries and restrictions will be decided upon by the participants _before_ the RUN starts. 3. RUNNERS get a two minute head start. 4. In order to terminate a RUNNER, the SANDMAN must be within 20 feet of the RUNNER and must say "RUNNER TERMINATED." 5. SANDMEN can be killed by touching the stripe on the shirt of the uniform, the RUNNER or CUB must say "SANDMAN KILLED." 6. If a RUNNER touches the SANDMAN's gun, the RUNNER is killed. 7. All terminated RUNNERS, dead SANDMEN or CUBS, must return to a pre-designated area. 8. RUNNERS cannot hide for more than two minutes at a time. 9. There must be at least two SANDMEN to every three RUNNERS. 10. SANCTUARY opens after 2/3 of the RUN time limit has passed. 11. SANCTUARY will be _pre-designated_ by the RUNNERS and will be kept secret from the SANDMEN. 12. SANDMEN cannot enter or guard SANCTUARY (if they find out its location). 13. SANDMEN cannot harm a RUNNER while that RUNNER is in SANCTUARY. 14. _RULES FOR ACTUAL RUN_: a) All participants must _exercise extreme caution_ when in the main Convention areas where there are non-participants. b) All elevators, hallways, staircases, garages, pedestrian overpasses, public areas, and fire escapes (if safe) may be used by participants. c) RUNNER's may not enter into private rooms or restrooms to hide. d) _Keep safety in mind at all times._ It only takes one accident to ruin the fun for everyone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ _City Run Rules_ 1) See the _Basic Run Rules_. 2) There must be at least six (6) RUNNERS and four (4) SANDMEN. 3) There is a 30 minute time limit. 4) If, at the end of the time limit, there are any RUNNERS in SANCTUARY, the RUNNERS win, if not, the SANDMEN win. _Traitor Run Rules_ 1) See the _Basic Run Rules_. 2) There must be at least 15 RUNNERS and 10 SANDMEN. 3) There is a 45 minute time limit. 4) A traitor SANDMAN will be chosen by the RUNNERS, each SANDMAN will be interviewed, and the traitor will be told, and the fact that he is a traitor will be kept secret from the rest of the SANDMEN. 5) There is one (1) traitor SANDMAN for every 10 SANDMEN on the RUN. 6) The traitor SANDMAN may: a) Terminate other SANDMEN (treat the SANDMAN like a RUNNER for killing purposes). b) Decoy other SANDMEN away from RUNNERS. c) Inform RUNNERS of the location of SANDMEN. 7) See _City Run Rule #4_. _Cathedral Run Rules_ 1. See the _Basic Run Rules_. 2. There must be at least 10 Cubs, 24 Runners, and 7 Sandmen. 3. CATHEDRAL will be pre-designated by all participants. A large parking garage is a good location. 4. There is a 60 minute time limit. 5. All CUBS are restricted to CATHEDRAL in the beginning of the RUN. 6. All RUNNERS must enter CATHEDRAL, and pick up a token that was put there before the RUN started. This is their key to enter SANCTUARY. 7. The location of the tokens in CATHEDRAL is a secret known only by the RUNNERS, the SANDMEN and CUBS do not know where they are. 8. CUBS must stay at least 30 feet from all entrances and exits to and from CATHEDRAL. 9. RUNNERS in CATHEDRAL can be killed by touching them on the back or front and saying "RUNNER DEAD." 10. CUBS can kill SANDMEN by touching them on the stripe and saying "SANDMAN DEAD." 11. CUBS may leave CATHEDRAL halfway into the time limit. Once out of CATHEDRAL, a CUB may not re-enter CATHEDRAL, but a CUB can hunt and kill RUNNERS, and SANDMEN on the outside. 12. CUBS will not know where SANCTUARY is. 13. RUNNERS may kill CUBS by touching them on the back or front and saying "CUB DEAD." 14. SANDMEN may kill CUBS (treat CUBS as RUNNERS for killing purposes). _Termination Run Rules_ 1. See the _Basic Run Rules_. 2. There must be at least 16 RUNNERS and eight (8) SANDMEN. 3. There is no time limit. 4. There is no SANCTUARY. 5. The RUN is over when all the RUNNERS have been terminated or when all the SANDMEN have been killed. _Arcade Run_ 1. See the _Basic Run Rules_. 2. There must be at least 20 RUNNERS and 10 SANDMEN. 3. The RUN lasts 45 minutes. 4. RUNNERS leave the starting place in groups of 5 in 15 second intervals. 5. a) Only the last group to leave knows where SANCTUARY is. b) The group that knows where SANCTUARY is, is picked at random by having the group, as it leaves the starting place, pick an unsealed envelope from a non-participant, on which under the flap on the back of the envelope is either blank or has the location of SANCTUARY. 6. The group that knows where SANCTUARY is must keep the location secret from the rest of the players, until the last group has left the starting place. 7. The last group gets a 2 minute head start. 8. The RUNNERS that do not know where SANCTUARY is must find out from those that do. _Remember_!!! If you use (5a), then the last group out is going to be the group that gets hunted first. This group must keep SANCTUARY alive by telling any and all RUNNERS the location of SANCTUARY.
